Le Va has a great track record of working alongside sports clubs as an effective vehicle to enhance wellbeing within communities. We’ve been making small but steady inroads within rugby league, and are keen to support rugby union more.
Earlier this month the LifeKeepers team brought their new e-learning programme to the Counties Manukau Steelers’ for their personal development day. 30 club players came together to work through the online modules and learn more about preventing suicide by building communities of C.A.R.E.
We know that in Aotearoa, men are more than two and a half times more likely to take their own lives, and that Māori and Pasifika young men are at particularly high risk. By equipping people with skills and tools to support each other, the Steelers are working hard to ensure that they can build a strong sense of community amongst their team, their families and friends.
